Indulgent Noir

A beautiful Pinot Noir from local winegrowers Easthope Family Wines:
In 1395, Duke Philippe the Bold exiled Gamay from Burgundy in favour of Pinot Noir, dividing two noble varieties that once shared a home. Centuries later—and quite unintentionally—we’ve brought them back together.
Our tenth vintage working with Gamay was meant to be just that—Gamay. But after harvest, DNA testing revealed that some of the vines we thought were Gamay, are in fact, Pinot Noir. The result? A serendipitous blend that closes a 600-year-old loop in the most delicious way. Philippe would be livid.
2025 is a fabulous vintage. This has plenty of ripe fruit, enveloped by a satin like texture. Chill it a little and you have the perfect summer red.
Perched on an elevated ridge of deep red gravel above the Ngaruroro River in Mangatahi, Hawke’s Bay, we farm, harvest, press, ferment, and bottle every drop ourselves. No shortcuts. No staff. Just a family, their hands, and the land they call home.
Add to this some delicious Chocolate Ginger and a bar of dark chocolate (70% cocoa) from the fabulous team at Devonport Chocolate in Auckland and this is set up to be a real treat to savour and enjoy.
